An Italian Renaissance Inspired Wedding
The Venue
Villa Valgiano in Lucca, Italy. My family is part Italian and Tuscany is one of our favourite places in the world, it also happens to be the most beautiful! Finding Villa Valgiano was really what solidified everything for us for our Italian renaissance inspired wedding. We wanted an idyllic setting to house all of our guests for a full week of festivities! Valgiano’s rolling hills and secluded location was already perfect, but adding a stunning villa and the proximity to Florence, Pisa, AND Cinque Terre made it a no-brainer.

The Planner
We hired Bianco Rosa (Sandra + Sara)! They were so amazing and communicative and helpful, which was key because I didn’t see anything in person before we arrived for the wedding week. I’m so grateful for them.
The Dress
I knew I didn’t want a white dress. Or off-white or ivory, etc. If you can’t tell by now, I’m not a very traditional bride (or person) and I wanted a dress that made me feel special but still myself. It needed to feel like Tuscany in springtime, so I found this soft blush tulle dress with cornflower blue and red embroidery. I purchased it on Moda Operandi, it was the last one and also half price-talk about meant to be!
The Photography
If you can believe it, we hired David Bastianoni BEFORE he shot Chiara Ferragni + Fedez’s wedding! So we based it off of his other work, and then when I saw the images from their wedding and all the press it got, I knew we made the right call. He is truly one of a kind. Vivacious, absurd, active, hilarious, and incredibly engaging. He made everyone feel at ease and truly paints with his camera. I love the renaissance portrait-like style of his photography, but I was not expecting that HUGE personality. He almost fell off of the cliff during our ceremony trying to get the right shot! Everyone adored him.
The Inspiration
I was primarily inspired by the stunning location we chose. Springtime in Tuscany at a centuries-old villa atop a hill. You couldn’t have dreamt something more beautiful. I wanted it to feel really natural and organic, like a fairytale in a modern Renaissance painting. Nothing too fussy or elaborate, just picturesque, warm, and enchanting. I’m very inspired by the Italian Renaissance artists–Botticelli, Michelangelo, Raphael!
What an absolutely incredibly gorgeous wedding, and isn’t Tuscany just the most idyllic setting for a dreamy wedding…
