Pink Wedding
When it came to the planning of our wedding, our ideas changed over the two years as our first wedding was postponed. We just knew we wanted it to be simple, elegant and for our guests to have the best time. I chose pink as my wedding colour scheme as it’s my favourite colour, we also felt that the decor had to fit with the venue, but the room didn’t need a lot as it was so beautiful anyway.
We chose Shilstone House in Ivybridge, Devon as our wedding venue because… it was love at first sight when we went to visit. We knew the minute we walked in that it was the place for us to get married. It all just felt so perfect.

The Dress
I knew years ago that I was only going to wear Suzanne Neville when I got married. As every girl does I follow lots of bridal designers on Instagram but I just knew she was the designer for me.
We went to London for a birthday weekend not long after we got engaged and I knew I wouldn’t forgive myself if I didn’t take the opportunity to go to her shop while I was there, so I went by myself and looked at dresses while dean went to the pub around the corner.
Going by myself was the right thing for me as I am so easily influenced by what other people think and would likely have chosen a dress I did not like if everyone else did.
I always thought I would want a big princess dress, but when I tried them on I just did not like them. I’d seen ‘Delphine’ on Instagram the year before and loved the simplicity of it. The lace panels on the side and the ‘fit and flare’ design. It was so simple but so beautiful. When I tried it on I just knew it was the one for me.
The Ceremony
My dad gave me away. We had a cello and violin playing throughout the ceremony.
Wedding Postponed
Our wedding was postponed due to covid, we were initially supposed to get married in July 2020. Ashleigh planned the majority of the wedding herself as I deployed 3 times. We got married in the same week we got together 10 years ago while we were both at school.
Photographer
We used Tracey Warbey as our wedding photographer. She was recommended by my best friend as she photographed her brother’s wedding. I cannot recommend her enough, she felt like she was part of the wedding party and we got on like a house on fire from the first meeting. She just made everyone feel so relaxed and at ease, and listened to our wishes. She got the most amazing photographs and we did not even know she was there. So easy to work with.
Most Memorable Moments
Ashleigh; the most memorable moment for me was when the girls and my dad saw me in my wedding dress for the first time. The only people that had seen my dress were my Auntie and my sister.
Dean; I don’t have a specific moment as the whole day was incredible, but if I had to pick one then the most memorable moment was seeing Ash coming down the aisle.
Advice
Dean; Elope. No, but really just make sure you get the wedding you want. Don’t settle for things, and don’t be swayed by peoples opinions if it isn’t what you want. It’s your day.
Ash; I agree with Dean, the day is about the two of you and nobody else.
