Industrial Meets Vintage Wedding With a Tea & Coffee Theme

Industrial Meets Vintage Wedding With a Tea & Coffee Theme

We both really like the urban and vintage vibe, so we tried to mesh those and our venue did a huge part of that. We had kind of a tea and coffee theme since I am a huge tea lover and he is a coffee lover. Our colour palette was shades of blue, some blush pink, and gold. Our ceremony was a pretty typical Christian ceremony. One of my (bride) favourite elements of the day was my bridesmaids’ dresses. I had a hard time settling on one colour because I didn’t want it to look tired, but I did want them all in the same style of dress. I also had a bridesmaid that was going to be 7 months pregnant at the wedding so that was an additional issue. I found a maternity friendly dress at David’s Bridal and had all the bridesmaids in the same dress but in an ombre from navy blue to light silver.

Wedding Decor

We kept our wedding decor fairly simple for the ceremony since the space itself was pretty impressive. We lined the aisle with some floral (faux) aisle markers and used a wooden hexagonal arch at the front. To add a little industrial vibe to it we hung Edison bulbs off of our arbour and added some flowers. The reception was pretty much all DIY decor. We are both huge readers, so our centre pieces were stacks of old-looking books with either a teapot filled with flowers or bud vases with a couple of flowers. One of our favourite touches in the reception was a light fixture of hanging Edison bulbs above the head table that helped tie the decor of the ceremony and reception together.

The Florals

Our bouquets, aisle markers, boutonnieres, corsages, floral arch decor, and head table greenery decor were all rented faux flowers from Something Borrowed Blooms. We had a few real flowers for the table decor. The flowers in our teapots and bud vases were real flowers to add some finishing touches to the centrepieces.

Personal Touches

We had a couple of personal touches like a wooden card box that we had engraved with our names and wedding date and a personalised cake topper. One of our favourite parts of our day was taking five minutes after the ceremony just the two of us to spend some time together. The maid of honour ran us some appetizers and we were able to just have a quiet moment before diving back into the craziness of the day.

Bridal Fashion

As the bride, when I started looking for a dress I didn’t want to limit myself by going in with a specific look. I tended to lean toward an off-the-shoulder dress, but I ended up with an ivory full lace, mermaid-style gown that was not off the shoulder. I added a little bling with a sash for some sparkle and accessorized it with a rose gold bracelet, earrings, and headband to match my ring. I loved the shoes I wore which were kitten heels that were all white and covered in a subtle lace. I (the groom) wanted to be more unique to stand out from the rest of my groomsmen. I chose a grey suit with a windowpane pattern on it. We chose the groomsmen’s suits in a lighter grey that matched the stripes on my suit. I also wore an ivory tie to match my bride, while the groomsmen wore navy blue ties to coordinate with the bridesmaids.

Special Moments

My most anticipated moment was just seeing him for the first time. We had been getting ready for hours for a day that was supposed to be about me and him and I hadn’t even seen him yet. We didn’t do a first look, but we did a first touch which was a really special moment, and it was harder than I expected not to look around the wall at him. You always hear about the groom crying when he sees the bride for the first time (which he didn’t, he’s not a crier), but when I saw him for the first time I teared up, and it was just an indescribable feeling seeing him for the first time.

Marriage & Planning Advice

I think the key to enjoying your wedding day is to just go with the flow. I know that’s easier for some than others, but I kept telling myself, “the important thing is, that at the end of the day we’ll be married.” Also, there will be little disasters. One of our groomsmen didn’t try on his suit until the wedding day and realized he was supposed to get his pants hemmed. Luckily my maid of honour’s mother was in attendance and a seamstress and was able to hem them quick before the wedding.
