Industrial Meets Romantic Glam Wedding: Abbe & Kevin

Industrial Meets Romantic Glam Wedding

Our wedding theme was inspired by deep romantic colours, heavy glam and opulence mixed with industrial roughness. We wanted a wedding with a mix of soft and edgy vibes that wasn’t held in a traditional venue and felt more like us.

Embellished Wedding Gown

I wore a Stephen Yearick gown from Vera’s House of Bridals with custom sleeves added on. The gown was fully beaded in rhinestones and pearls from the top to the very bottom of the train. It was my top priority to have a FULLY embellished ultra-glam gown that wasn’t something seen a lot before. The lace appliques were a pewter tone which really added to the romantic and vintage feel of the dress.

Grooms Attire

Kevin’s tux and accessories were all from Nedrebos in Madison. Our rings were from Kessler’s Diamonds.

Favourite Things

We incorporated some of our favourite things in subtle ways, like a piano version of Feeling This by Blink 182 for walking down the aisle, and a string quartet version of Hey Ho by the Lumineers for Kevin and the rest of the bridal party – we even walked in with our grand march to the main theme song from Star Wars.

Meet Cute

We met in February 2017 the old-fashioned Wisconsin way… out at a bar over drinks and dancing. Kevin was looking for his friends, who hadn’t yet made their way to the bar they told him to meet at, and I was there with friends who had gone off to do their own thing. Kevin asked me what I was drinking, and then we spent the rest of the night dancing, talking, and asking questions to get to know each other. Our first official date was to the movies the very next day – and after that, we were pretty much inseparable spending all our free time together.

DIY Decor

Our seating chart was a total DIY experiment that ended up working out amazingly well – it was a labour of love but was a huge statement piece that we got so many compliments on.

Our bar menu sign and seating chart were both DIY and turned out amazing! Both were gold mirrors that we gave our own special touches to. The bar menu was all written by hand in gold marker and is almost identical to the Pinterest inspiration we fell in love with. The seating chart included 4×6 table cards with the list of who was seated at each table. These were affixed to the mirror with gold wax seals. We worked with our florist to add additional florals to the display to perfect it!

Magical Memories

Kevin’s father shared a blessing before dinner and it was one of the most special parts of our day – he shared about how days don’t have to be perfect to be really good. It was so wonderful for us to have him speak, to bless our marriage, and to be welcomed into his family.

We also love to look back and laugh at our cake cutting… we did not cut deep enough into the cake and so the ‘piece’ that we cut was almost entirely just frosting. We noticed and were laughing while feeding it to each other and the photos capture some of that too – it’s one of those little things that only we saw but that we got a lot of laughs out of.

Wedding Advice

Don’t sweat the small stuff – the most important thing isn’t if all the decor and details are perfect. The most important thing is that you’re committing your life and saying ‘I Do’ to your best friend and the love of your life. At the end of the day, that is the one true thing that matters. If you keep that at the forefront of your mind, the stresses that come from planning are a million times easier to navigate.

Congratulations Abbe & Kevin! Are you a fan of their industrial wedding style? Let me know in the comments.
