Magical Harry Potter Themed Wedding: Becs & Steve
This was lots of fun! We had a magical Harry Potter themed wedding theme at our venue. We hung flying keys from the stairs, filled empty cork bottles with a variety of homemade ‘potions’, homemade wands, and parchment and had an assortment of old books and Pop vinyl creatures. We had an old suitcase filled with props and dressing up and made two broomsticks from branches from my parent’s garden. As well as golden snitch favours, our ‘guest book’ was a Marauder’s Map that our guests signed with ideas for dates.
Wedding Dress
I loved the lace at the shoulders and deep lace back on my Ronald Joyce wedding dress – it made me feel like a princess from Swan Lake! I also loved the long, delicate lace train as I could picture it flowing down the stairs at Prior Park.
Wedding Photographer
Becky Weir was our wedding photographer. She is an absolute photography wizard. To us, it felt like Becky was always meant to be at our wedding and it felt like a friend taking the pictures. She made our day absolutely magical and we had so much fun having her take our photos.
Wedding Flowers
We wanted wedding flowers that were rustic, wild and floaty. We chose colours of pale blue, blush pink, white and greenery. We had roses, peonies, astilbe, eucalyptus and sea holly.
Words of Wisdom
Make the most of moments of quiet between the two of you – in the car, just outside the church, just before taking photos as the day is filled with so many people wanting to congratulate you. Equally, on the day there seemed to be a ‘bubble’ around me(Becs), almost as if people didn’t want to ‘interrupt’, ‘get in photos’ or ‘take up my time!’. Be prepared to remind people that you want to spend the day with them and that you want people to come and speak to you!
Wedding Favours
I made Golden snitches wedding favours from white chocolate Lindor from the Lindt store in Gunwharf Quays
Wedding Cake
My incredibly talented sister @rockcakesandrolls made our wedding cake. We had a delicious white chocolate and raspberry cake which was decorated simply with real flowers and our ‘Always’ topper.
I am loving the Harry Potter wedding vibes! Are you planning a themed wedding? Let us know.
