Understated Pub Wedding
Our wedding ceremony was at Islington Town Hall in London. I’ve lived in Islington for the past 8 years, and Greg moved here in 2019, so getting married there felt special to both of us.
Our wedding reception was held at The Depot also in London. We wanted a low-key vibe & an unstuffy environment where everyone could let their hair down so a London pub was a perfect choice.

Wedding Dress
My wedding dress was Adrienne by Pronovias. I wanted a chic, modern dress that fitting with the London vibe of our wedding whilst being elegant and unlike the usual dress that you think of when someone says the word “bride”
Ceremony
Mum & Dad both walked me down the aisle as it was important to me to have both of them with me at that moment. They walked me down to Sweet Disposition by the Temper Trap (Sawyer cover).
Photography
Our wedding photographer Sandra did a fantastic job of capturing the fun & energy of the day, particularly at the reception venue & during our surprise singer’s performance when all the guests got up out of their seats and danced/formed a conga line! She managed to capture all the key moments whilst blending into the background & not making you feel too aware of her presence which is important on an already fairly overwhelming & chaotic day for the couple.
Wedding Decor
White bunting hung from pillar to post indoors, and throughout the courtyard outdoors. When it came to the flowers I wanted a chic, understated vibe that didn’t break the bank and was also in keeping with the time of the year i.e. autumn/winter. We went for lots of foliage and a spray of white flowers to add texture & colour which fitted the venue & time of year whilst enabling us to keep costs down.
Most Memorable Moment
My favourite moments include the moment we were declared husband and wife and feeling so happy that we were beginning the rest of our lives together.
The moment the surprise singers who were disguised as waiters suddenly burst into song was also such a fantastic part of the day. They got all the guests out of their seats & dancing & so many of our guests said afterwards how much fun they had and how amazingly talented the singers & saxophonist were.
First Dance
Our first dance was to Head & Heart by Joel Corry + MNEK. We listened to this song during covid lockdown every Friday when we went into the garden for drinks & a firepit and it became synonymous with us as a couple & always reminds us of silly, funny times together.
Words of Wisdom
Don’t sweat the small stuff, nobody will notice if something goes wrong & remember you are always your own worst critic. Try and relax on the day and take a moment to be with your wife/husband alone after the ceremony because you’ll be pulled from pillar to post by guests all day and it’s important to soak it all in as a couple and remember that everyone is there for you!
