We live locally in the North West so have always travelled up to the Lake District for day excursions or mini breaks. When we got engaged after an almighty trek to the top of Helvellyn, it only seemed fitting that we also return for the wedding. Google helped shape the day from there as it was must first place to check for ‘unique lake district weddings’ and voila! Hidden River Barn was discovered. It was the first venue we saw and immediately fell in love, the beautiful landscapes, the barn and the log cabins had us sold.

My wedding dress was purchased at The Bridal Barn Boutique in Ormskirk and I can’t recommend them enough, this is an independent store and Emma is the loveliest person.
I loved the fabric and the detail. I’ve always wanted a square neck wedding dress so it was perfect. I knew it was the one as the minute i put it on both myself and my mum cried – instant winner!
Wow I can’t recommend Olive Owl Flowers enough, I gave small details of what I wanted and what was provided on the day was astonishing. It was perfect!
I just knew that I wanted pops of colour and having a wedding in May was the perfect opportunity to do so – we decided to incorporate a spring colour palette into our flowers and it looked perfect!
We had the most wonderful wedding photographer, she not only produced stunning images but was genuinely so kind & considerate on the day. Lauren went above and beyond her role as a photographer, she was the queen of pep talks, she organised the chaos, and helped instruct us on what was happening and what to expect which helped settle the nerves! The whole wedding party loved Lauren.
If we could offer any words of wisdom… I can’t recommend this enough, but make sure you have some time after the ceremony for just yourself and your partner. You’ve had a lot of stress/nerves leading up to this day, you’ve just exchanged vows/rings and the hard bit is done.. sit down with a glass of champagne and just soak in the moment with each other!
Also having a strong support system, our bridal party and family helped us with so much and made everything so special.
Pinterest was my biggest wedding inspiration, I have tonnes of boards! My best friend and maid of honour was getting married in the same year so we were thankfully going through it together, we had a shared Pinterest board where we would share ideas and feedback to one another. That was a huge help in navigating all of the various wedding inspo!
