DIY Wildflowers, Walled Gardens & a Two-piece Wedding Dress: Anna & Tom

Anna and Tom were inspired by all the gorgeous bohemian weddings they had seen on Pinterest and Instagram. Anna had a ‘million boards of deco ideas and bouquet styles’ but ultimately, just wanted to have a day that reflected both her and Tom.

Their gorgeous summer wedding ended up being a relaxed party rather than a majorly formal event, and Anna really got stuck into the all the wedding DIY by creating all her own bohemian style wedding decor and wildflower arrangements.

For my wedding dress, I wanted something that reflected me and my day to day style. I wanted my dress to be different, and I knew I wanted a two piece. Caroline was amazing, she listened to exactly what I wanted and sketched up 6 dresses for me to chose from, we then went on to choose fabrics and lace etc.

The whole experience was amazing. The thing I loved most about my wedding dress, is that no one else will ever have the same dress.

I did all of the flowers myself with the help of my mum, I bought the flowers from florist wholesalers, (Byfords Marks Tey, Essex) and arranged them/made bouquets/buttonholes/corsages the day before the wedding.

I knew I didn’t want anything structured for my floral decorations or bouquet and wanted my bouquet to look wild and organic. I loved the soft muted tones of the faith roses and eucalyptus, teamed with the daisies, white dahlias and dried lavender, against the deep thistles.

Tom didn’t have a best man, he a had a group of “merry men” He wore a Remus Uomo suit with a bow tie and shoes by Dr Martens.

Our wedding venue was Cressing Temple Barns in Essex. We wanted an informal outdoor wedding and we chose the venue specifically for the stunning walled garden where we had our ceremony.

My Dad, Nick gave me away and one of my most memorable parts of the day was Tom’s face when he turned around and saw me at the alter.

During our ceremony when the registrar asked me if I took Thomas OLIVIA instead of Oliver was Tom’s favourite moment, we both died with laughter.

Nathalie Delente was our wedding photographer – Nathalie instantly put us both at ease when we first met her. The pre-wedding shoot was really fun and made us feel comfortable having our photo taken for the big day.

We love her photography style and she captured our day so well. We adore our wedding photos and will cherish them forever. On the day Nathalie worked so hard to ensure everything was captured, she was truly fantastic.

We saved up 100s of glass jars and decorated them with lace, organza and brown string, these were used as the table decorations and filled with flowers. I also made lace dream catchers for the walled garden. We made signs and our table plan using old pallets which were topped with flowers.

If we could impart any words of wisdom we would say…

Don’t let anyone tell you how things “should” be done, the day should be done how you want it. Don’t stress about the little things, your guests don’t know how things are meant to run/look/be so something that seems significant to you, probably won’t even be noticed by them. Do as much as you can yourself – I made so many decorations myself and loved doing so, it was so nice to be creative!
