Magical Hot Air Balloon Elopement in Cappadocia

Cappadocia is absolutely breath-taking. With its towering rock formations, ancient cave dwellings, and hot air balloons that span over the rose-tinted valleys at sunrise, it appears to be something straight out of an idyllic fairy tale. We were inspired by the region’s distinct volcanic landscape and unique history and wanted to evoke feelings of nostalgia and romance in choosing this incredible location.

Our vision for the shoot was to set the scene for a magical styled elopement by incorporating elements of traditional Turkish culture and deriving our colour palette from the warm tones and dusky oranges that paint the inland sky. In addition, we added small details to reflect the couple’s unique styles and values.

I chose to wear a dark navy gown by Bariano Australia followed by a stunning wedding dress from Lisa Lyons Bridal. Both dresses beautifully complemented the rustic landscape and the body of the wedding dress featured lace detailing that added a feminine touch. In contrast, the groom wore a vintage tweed suit, with gold interior and rust-coloured accents, to reflect his old-school British style and accentuate the sunlit terrain.

We chose a suit made of comfortable fabrics and a flowy dress with straps so that the couple could fully experience all that Cappadocia has to offer. Our day included driving down the winding paths toward Uchisar and hiking through the valleys, all in a three-piece suit, a wedding dress and heels.

Everything was beautifully tied together with small finishing touches. Eimear from Perch and Plume Designs supplied a gorgeous invitation suite in sandstone orange and Turkish blue, while Serdar from Caravanserai Inn provided rentals such as an authentic Turkish rug and cushion set. All of the vendors contributed to creating this one-of-a-kind dreamy elopement.
