Real Wedding

Lovingly Handcrafted | Syrian Influenced: Real Wedding

Afternoon lovelies! If you have a spare 5 minutes you must watch this real wedding vimeo. I insist! Grace and Daniel married in their family home in New South Wales, Australia. Their homespun ceremony and wedding reception was brimming with the prettiest detailing and the emotion of this beautiful couples wedding day is positively palpable!

People traveled from all over the world to the beautiful Hawkesbury rural area for Grace and Daniels homespun wedding.

In the morning there was excited nervous energy, the house was full of family and friends greeting each other and preparing the last minute details of the day. Grace however stayed calm, taking everything in with a smile and even taking time to show her very cute flower girls where to walk for the ceremony.

Grace and Daniels families were very welcoming and beaming with pride the whole day. It was clear that family was very important and they had a wonderful connection with each other. The wedding gave a great sense of community, as it seams that friends and family pitched in and helped with all aspects of the preparation. The day was coordinated by Grace’s aunty, the wedding cake made by a family friend and there were performances throughout the day by friends as well.

Grace and the bridesmaids did their own make up and hair and did a beautiful job as everyone looked fantastic. Grace’s weeding dress was her grandmothers, which gave a wonderful feeling of renewal – embracing the past and looking toward the future.

Meanwhile, the boys were getting ready down the road and had time to relax in the backyard before the big day. The bridal car was lovingly restored by Grace’s brother and was ready just in time for the wedding.

The ceremony was held at the front of the family home, under a homemade rustic alter. Beside it was an old tree decorated by paper cranes and hanging glass bottles. The ceremony was very spiritual and truly heartfelt. It was performed by the family pastor who had known the couple separately and together for years.

After the ceremony with a feeling of exhilaration, we all went to a nearby property to enjoy some downtime. It was near sunset, the magic hour and the gentle light was touching the fields in an almost surreal way. Seeing Grace and Daniel together, it is obvious how crazy they are about each other. The bridal party were heaps of fun and were very entertaining!

When we arrived back at the property for the reception, the sun had almost set and the entire room was glowing. Homemade white miniature flags decorated a simple, elegant four tier wedding cake. The oak table was covered with candles and they used a wooden barrel for a wishing well. The bridal table was decorated by simple bunches of white roses and wine bottles – behind was a centerpiece, covered by candlelit mason jars – the effect was quite incredible. In fact every aspect of this wedding was lovingly handcrafted with a unique timeless sense of style by the very talented Grace.

Grace and Dan entered the reception to the wild beating of Arabic drums and a flurry of traditional Syrian dancing followed – the night turned into a joyous party.

During the speeches we were able to learn more of the couples back story, they met in their church years before and their love has blossomed since. The best man says of Daniel “he is a man of integrity and character, hard working and generous. Loyal to those he loves and very protective of Grace”. Grace’s sister told stories of growing up together and how much it meant to be standing there on her little sisters wedding day. Grace’s father explained that his father was 16 when he wanted to get married and was told that he could only get married if he could lift a concrete weight. It has now become a family tradition and Daniel managed to lift the weight with ease! The day after the wedding was also Grace’s birthday, so they had even more celebrations to come.

Daniel described all the emotions he was feeling in his speech, “Wow this is such a good feeling, the whole day has been beautiful and that is just a reflection of Grace’s heart and the person that she is – she is just beautiful in every way, there is not much else I can say. She has never let me down, if I am having a hard day she will send me a message and straight away I will be happy. She means the world to me”

For their first dance they stood in the middle of a crowded room, holding each other tight – you could tell they were truly in the moment and to them they were the only two people in the room.

Everyone ran out the front to watch the amazing fireworks display with excitement for what was to come and a little sadness that one of the most amazing days was soon to finish.

Grace and Daniels wedding video just leaves me breathless! Such a beautiful, heartfelt day and all captured so wonderfully by talented Melboure Wedding Videographer Danae of Me & My Camera. So many details to love in this homespun wedding, do let me know your favourite bits.
