Winner announced at the end of the post!
Evening oh gorgeous ones! Hope you had a fab weekend… hot weather… bbq’s… sunny parks… yadda yadda. If it’s nearing your wedding date here’s a top tip. Resist the urge to sunbathe. And if you can’t, please remember to slather yourself in factor 50 and keep an eye on those tan lines. Many a pretty gown has been blighted by the dreaded tan line.
So what have we got going on today for you? It’s competition time again. We (I) do spoil you a bit don’t we. So today’s competition is to WIN one of these beautiful handcrafted floral headpieces by Yelena Smirnova. So get stuck right in and I’ll tell you what to do win one of these beauts at the end of the post.
My inspiration mostly was drawn from the elegant opulence of the 1920’s and 1930’s eras. My aim was to create a fresh and modern collection with a nod towards vintage design. I played with two contrast looks, on the one hand, it is a dramatic bohemian charm and on the other it is romantic and soft lightness. This exquisite collection features delicate French lace, handmade silk flowers in creamy-white and blush hues and intricate beadwork. I hope any bride can find the suitable headpiece from my collection which would be right for her hair style and accentuate her individuality.

Tiffany says:
I’m crossing my fingers for the celeste headpiece! It would go perfectly with my destination wedding on the beach with the ethereal gown to match.
Ahhhhh hows a girl meant to choose among these beauties?! Id like them all, Id accessorise every outfit I own, even to work. But it all seriousness, the Mia headband would compliment my dress perfectly, its the perfect shape so that it looks bridal butwouldnt compete with all the details on my dress. The materials pick out all the details in my dress, the lace and the pearls and the flowers. And its the perfect size for short hair too! Love it! xx
Haha yes it’s a toughie! Thanks for your entry Rachel and GOODLUCK! XxX
They are all beautiful. .but my fav is fiona…its do delicate light and pretty..am getting married in st lucia so this would b perfect with the setting. ..this would look lovely with my hair atyled up in a byn x x
Thanks for your entry Helen and lucky you marrying in St Lucia :) XxX
They are all so adorable. But my favorite is the Elise Headdress. I like big flowers, they are the perfect size :) I love the idea of the 1920’s inspiration. It would match my outfit(s) completely.
Thanks Prescilla, I love the Elise too :) XxX Good luck!
Ooo sounds so pretty! (your hair and haircomb combo) Thanks for your entry Emilie and good luck XxX
I love all of these! If I had to pick though I would go for the Mia headband. It’s really delicate and not too dramatic or overpowering. It’s beautiful! :) Would love t win this!
Thanks for your entry Kerry! Good luck, love Sonia XxX
I absolutely love the Celeste headdress! It would compliment my dress perfectly and is very me :)
Hi Emma, Thanks for your entry Celeste is indeed very pretty!! Good luck, love Sonia XxX
The Celeste headdress would go beautifully with my lace dress and vintage theme!
Thanks for your entry Rachel! Lots of luck, love Sonia XxX
Ooooh these are so pretty! I would love to wear the Flora hair comb- the pearls and lace would complement my dress and our style for the day.
Hi Lucy, Thye Flora is a great choice :) Thanks for your entry and good luck, love Sonia XxX
They are all lovely but the Mia headband would be perfect for me. I’m leaving my hair down (because no amount of hairspray and grips will hold it up all day!). I’ve got a very sensible shoulder length bob and have been fretting that I’ll look like I’ve thrown a wedding dress on to pop into the office. No chance of looking too corporate with something as pretty and delicate as the ‘Mia’ band – beautiful!
Haha it’s funny the things we worry about before the big day isn’t it! I’m sure no matter what you are going to look AMAZING!! Good luck lovely XxX Love Sonia
They are all so fab!. But my favorite by far is the Elise Headdress.
Hi Leanne, the Elise is a definitely a show stopper! Love the boho vibe :) Good luck, love Sonia XxX
I am getting marrried next year and have spent a long time looking for something to use in my hair. I just love the Flora hair comb, very beautiful.
Hi Catherine, I’m so happy you’ve finally found something you love :)) Best of luck lovely, love Sonia Xx
Wow! Now I know many would struggle to choose one out of this gorgeous collection, however I think when something just grabs you, it stands out from everything, no matter how beautiful everything else is.
The Ophelia is stunning and a total reflection on my personality, elegant, chic, a little laid back and not one to blend into the crowd! Such a lovely change on the bog standard and out dated tiara! Would blend in with a low key hair style, anything over stated would be too much and the head piece really does do the talking :)
Hi Amy! Thanks so much for your entry! This circlet is gorgeous! Good luck my love, Sonia XxX
That was really hard choosing a favourite from these stunning peices. They are all wonderfull and remind me of old Hollywood glam. The Amelia floral vine, is divine and delicate. I’m planning to have my hair all loose and wavy with the sides pinned back a little ,Amelia is perfect for this style xxx
Thanks for your entry Portia and good luck XxX
The Mia headband is gorgeous-not for me but my friend getting married over the summer. She has been looking for something like this.
Thanks Angela, good luck XxX
Oh wow this is such a fabulous competition! I have very long, blonde hair and so my favourite piece (with this in mind) would definitely be the Lilia Headband – ”Stylized lilies are made with gold thread lace and decorated with Swarovski crystals stamens”, even the description sounds divine! With love, Faye xx
Hi Faye, thanks so much for your entry. I’m afraid this comp is for the 2013 collection https://www.yelenasmirnova.co.uk/collection-2013/ Although I do agree that the Lilia headband is gorge! Do you want to pic a favourite from the 2013 collection? Love Sonia XxX
I have been married for almost 35 years so I am not entering but they all are very beautiful. Congrats to all of the brides on your blog.
Oh dear, I feel a bit foolish now haha! In that case, my absolute favourite would be the ever-so-beautiful Ophelia Floral Circuit! With love, Faye xx
No need to feel foolish my love :) it just shows how much you love the collections! XxX
I love the Eugenia hair comb. My dress is quite simple and this would add detail
It’s stunning isn’t is Jennie! Good luck :) XxX Love Sonia
I can’t chose one out of all of these gorgeous pieces!
It would look amazing at any wedding, but mine especially
because I’m having an outdoor setting and it would look beautiful!
I would love to win.

The Mia headband is lovely, very “boho chic” and would suit me down to the ground as our wedding is going to be a very small laid back affair.
Thanks for your entry Solange! Good luck, Love Sonia XxX
Alexandra for sure. I could skip the veil altogether with this piece. After all I want people to see my awesome hair, and nice makeup instead of hiding it right?
Hi Melissa, I had a birdcage veil which still showed off my hair and headpiece :)) Good luck, Love Sonia XxX
Oh my! Such a beautiful collection which captures the heart. *happy sigh* I have totally fallen for Celeste because she’s like my dress – vintage, unique and sophisticated. Celeste would compliment my tousled-hair-to-be and ‘Betty’ (my dress, named after my grandmother) with the accents of lace and flower appliques.
Oh wow! Sounds amazing Laura. You must be so excited!? Good luck lovely XxX
I love the flora hair comb! It’s very beautiful without being over dramatic and would really compliment my dress I haven’t decided how to have my hair yet but this would compliment it up or down its a win win :D
Thanks so much for your entry Janet! You’re right, the Flora would look amaze with hair up or down :) Love, Sonia XxX
I adore them all, they’re like little works of art! My ultimate favourite is the Rosalie hair comb, it’s really beautiful!
Thanks for your entry Kirsty and lots of luck! Love Sonia XxX
These are gorgeous!! I am having a destination wedding, and my dress has such pretty leaf shaped lace. I am absolutely in love with the idea of a headband of hair clip instead of a veil. These are perfect and many of them would work with my dress! Oh i hope i win!
Fingers crossed Angela, which one is your absolute fave? Love Sonia XxX
sigh…I think its the Alexandra hair comb, I like the one big bloom and the lace accents which would match my lace gown perfectly. Also I have pretty short hair so one big accessory would add some elegance and formality since I can’t have an updo
Hi Katie, I thnk the Alexandra hair comb will look aces with short hair. A real statement :) good luck, love Sonia XxX
The Rosalie hair comb will perfectly compliment my vintage wedding. My colors are blush and champagne
Such a pretty colour combination Samantha! Best of luck lovely XxX Love SOnia
Every single head piece is so beautiful… If I were to choose a piece for my Boho-Chic California beach wedding it would be the Fiona hair ribbon. This piece reminds of the one my mother wore on her wedding day back in 1980. She will be in heaven watching me walk down the isle in June 2014 and I would like to have something beautiful as a reminder of her to all the guests that watched her get married to my father. I do not have my dress yet, because I want to pair my dress with my accessories. Being in the fashion industry, I have a very precise eye and your pieces are exactly what I have been looking for. Thank you for this offer.
~Andrea
Thanks for your entry Andrea, a boho chic Calfornia wedding sounds idylic :) Yelena will be so please you love her headpieces and thanks for sharing your story. Lots of Love Sonia XxX
What a beautiful collection! The Mia headband is absolutely perfect. Thanks Melissa the Rosalie is proving very popular. Best of luck, Love Sonia XxX
The Rosalie Hair Comb is perfect for my early 1900’s inspired wedding. The vintage garden style flowers are gorgeous and are the kinds of flowers I plan to use in my wedding. All the pieces are gorgeous though! Magnificent work!
Hi Gabrielle, loving the era you have chosen. Sounds amazing! Best of luck, Love Sonia XxX
The Rosalie hair comb is my favourite and compliments my theme beautifully – I have chosen vintage rose lace and pearls to go with my emerald, navy, gold and ivory colour scheme. This piece is exactly what I am looking for to transform my fine dark hair into something everyone talks about. xx
Hi Jessica, loving the sound of your colour scheme! Best of luck, love Sonia XxX
Eugenia hair comb is my favourite, I think it is so unusual and beautifully made. Winning would make not just my special day but my year. Xx
Awww thanks Amy, the Eugenia is really unique and one of my favourites :) good luck lovely, love SOnia XxX
These are all so beautiful it’s hard to pick just one. My favourite would have to be Amelia floral vine. It’s just so pretty and a fresh new take on a wedding tiara. I’ve been struggling to find something so perfect that would look fabulous with my simple styled dress.
Good choice Rosie! I love the Amelia too! Lots of Love Sonia XxX

Thanks so much for your entry Megan, Love Sonia XxX
Flora hair comb, This is the one i love the most such a difficult decision, they are all so beautiful. I’m getting married next June, having a vintage style them, and the pearls and lace on this piece will compliment my dress, beautiful
What a gorgeous collection! All of these pieces are unique and well suited to different styles. I think for me the choice would have to be the Mia headband- I’ve always had a fascination with headbands much to the dismay of my fiance. I’m pretty sure he’d change his mind about them if he saw me wearing that one on our wedding day!
Best of luck Ines! Love Sonia XxX
It’s impossible to choose! I love the boldness of the Alexandra, it’s something different that stands out. The Rosalie stands out to me as well. My fiancé is from Hawaii so we are going to incorporate some Hawaiian traditions/styles into our wedding. The Victoria, Ophelia, and Cornelia remind me a lot of haku style leis. They’re all absolutely beautiful. Every bride shines on her wedding day but these incredible pieces would give her that extra little sparkle to really make her glow.
Thanks for your entry Stephanie, good luck Love Sonia XxX
I love the Floral Hair Comb it is gorgeous and would go well with the hair style I am having which is quite similar to the one in your picture.I have to say all of the pictures are gorgeous. :)
Thanks so much for your entry Alison, Love Sonia XxX
They are amazing. I want them all please. If I was to choose one it would be the Eugene hair comb i would want my hair up for my wedding and think this would look great.
Hehe :) best of luck my dear! Love Sonia XxX
Wow, these are all so beautiful! You’re ever so talented and it’s very difficult to choose! The Mia headband is beautiful and would compliment my chosen hairstyle the best. I’m planning to have my hair backcombed and half up at the back, with the rest down in loose curls. I’ll be wearing a veil and I think the Mia headband wouldn’t look too over the top with a veil and would perfectly compliment my hairstyle. If I won the headband and it didn’t look right with a veil, the headband would be my priority as it is just so beautiful!
Thanks for your entry Laura and yes, Yelena is very talented! Love Sonia XxX
I had a custom veil made and the Mia would match my veil. I would give it to my niece who is also my flowergirl to wear on the big day so she would feel like a princess just like me!
Awww, thanks for your entry Tiffany. Lots of Love Sonia XxX
