Today’s real wedding is such a delight! Our lovely bride Emma was glowing in a sensational Jenny Packham gown and wore the most adorable vintage style ‘kitty’ wedding shoes, so cute – they just have to be seen.
Overall, this is a lovely relaxed wedding with nods of art-deco and vintage glamour, understated wedding decor, twinkling fairy-lights and beautiful photography.
Relaxed Vintage Glamour Wedding With Jenny Packham Bride: Emma & Chris
Words by Emma. Images by John Barwood Photography.
For our wedding we wanted to hint at the things we liked – art deco and vintage glamour without it coming across like a theme.
We’re pretty laid back as a couple so the day was naturally going to lean towards something fairly relaxed. Décor was kept simple with cut glass decanters, flowers and fairy lights.
Understated but effective.
I instantly fell in love with my Jenny Packham Azalea wedding dress. It has the relaxed vintage glamour I was looking for, it’s delicate yet all the beautiful detailing means it has plenty of presence.
I worked closely with my mum’s friend Colette of CVF to get the right look. I wanted the flowers to reflect the mood of the day – relaxed and with a nod to the countryside setting.
All my favourite flowers like anemones and peonies are spring flowers so it proved to be quite a challenge! Colette worked her magic and was able to track some peonies down.
I work in London and my fabulous colleagues bought me some peonies from Berwick Street Market as a gift, which I drove up to Nottingham with, and they made it into the bouquet. All the ladies at CVF did a wonderful job.
My father walked me down the aisle to J Clarke Trumpet Voluntary – it’s the same music my mother walked to on their wedding day.
Our wedding photographers, John and Sophie make a brilliant team. They’re so friendly and welcoming that they instantly built a rapport with us, putting two un-photogenic people at ease quickly!
Their reportage style really captured the spirit of our day as well as those special moments. Every detail that was important to us was captured thanks to their thorough research before the big day.
They aren’t averse to a bit of danger in the name of their work either – Soph overtaking us at 60MPH on a little country road while John was hanging out the window to get that perfect shot of us in Dad’s Morgan is definitely a highlight!
If you could impart any words of wisdom to future brides planning their wedding days, what would they be?
Two bits of advice:
1. Book your photographers and band as early as humanly possible
2. Don’t stress about getting to speak to everyone on the day.
You need to enjoy yourself rather than stressing about talking to this friend or that relative. They are there to share your day with you, to see you make your commitment and see you enjoy yourself.
If you don’t get to speak to someone as much as you would like then it’s a great excuse to meet up with them afterwards, show them the wedding pictures and relive the day with them. So ultimately – dance when you want to dance!
What was your most memorable moment of the day?
My mum helping me into my dress and then at the church standing with my dad, just the two of us as the bridesmaids made their procession.
For Chris it was the adrenal in as the processional music started up.
Having our photos taken as the sun set was the first time we came together and felt relaxed as the formality of the day was fading away and the party mood was kicking in. It was in that moment that every thing sank in for us and just felt right.
What a beautiful wedding day! Thanks so much for sharing with the WTW blog.
