Oh wow, today’s real wedding is just all kinds of lovely! From the moment the gorgeous bride emailed me to this very moment, I just couldn’t wait to feature.
Sam and Brett are an adorable, smiley and one seriously loved up couple – I’ve not only enjoyed looking at their amazing wedding photos, but also getting to know them a little better.
Their proposal story is just the sweetest ever…
So many details to swoon over in this sea-foam and mint green ‘forest’ themed wedding – promise, you’ll be super inspired.

Sea-foam & Mint Green ‘Forest’ Themed Wedding: Brett & Sam
Our wedding was “Forest-inspired” and filled with flowers, vines and spectacular greenery. I needed my dress to encapsulate that – thus I chose “Floro” by Enzoani. I loved the 3D floral embellishments and the dropped waist fit, which suited my body shape perfectly.
As my dress was rather detailed, I did not choose a lot of jewellery. My earrings were given to me by my beautiful Maid Of Honour as my ‘something borrowed’. I loved them so much that I have still not returned them :)
Both the groom and the groomsmen chose to wear suspenders and bow ties. It suited our theme perfectly! :)
We used a lot of wooden items as part of our wedding decor, as well as bird cages filled with greenery.
We opted for wild flowers in my bouquet. My husband and I are both such free spirits and a formal flower arrangement just didn’t seem to suit us.
We chose a “forest” themed wedding – this just seemed the closest theme to a “faiytale”.
When we started dating, I would always wear flowers in my hair and Brett would always call me his “princess”. We wanted to incorporate this into the wedding theme.
Our decor and colour scheme just captured this perfectly. We tried to stick to the colour of sea foam green/mint in our colour choices, as well as certain browns.
My phenomenal father, Peter walked me down the aisle to ‘A Thousand Years’ by Christina Perri.
My husband proposed to me on our first Christmas together. Whilst sitting beside my cousins and I during Christmas lunch, Brett told us that he wanted to give a little speech to thank my family for being so hospitable.
After lunch, he casually stepped away from the table to go and chat to my father about gathering everyone together in the lounge. At this point, I stepped away to go and adjust my make up in the bathroom. When I returned from the bathroom, everyone was seated and Brett handed me a massive, wrapped box.
I was rather excited, as we had not opened our Christmas gifts as of yet. The gift was wrapped in the most exquisite wrapping paper, and was bound with tons of beautiful ribbons. Brett told me that I could sit down and go ahead and open the gift while he thanked my family for their hospitality.
When I eventually opened the box, I discovered that it was filled to the brim with red rose petals, as well as little strips of white paper that were written on. Each strip of paper described a different attribute that Brett loved about me.
“I love your eyes, I love your smile, I love how generous you are, I love how big your heart is etc.”
Beneath all of those little strips of paper and rose petals, right at the bottom of the massive gift box, was a tiny black box. When I finally found this little box and held it in my hand, I realised what was happening and started to cry. My fairy tale was about to come true.
At this point, Brett was on his knee in front of me and my entire family was in tears. The moment that I took out that little black box, was also the moment that they realised what was happening. Brett shared the story of how we met and also shared why he wants to spend the rest of his life with me.
I will never forget that moment.
Brett’s Best Man & a mutual friend of ours led Christian worship during our ceremony. The acoustic guitar added such a peaceful feeling to the entire day. We wanted to praise God for bringing us together.
Our wedding photographer was Fiona Clair Photography.
Fiona is a phenomenal photographer! She makes you feel so comfortable! We couldn’t have been blessed with a more incredible person. She captured everything we could ever have wanted.
Our cake was made by the Head Pastry Chef at the the Cape Grace Hotel. Her name is Lorraine Meaney. The rustic appearance of the cake and the wild flowers on it suited our theme.
If you could impart any words of wisdom to a future brides planning their wedding days, what would they be?
Honestly, just laugh :) Laugh at the things that go right and the things that go wrong. There wasn’t a single photo in our entire collection where I wasn’t laughing or smiling. It’s the most joyous moment of your entire life! Take it in with all of the happiness that you can.
Also, remember to respect one another’s feelings throughout the planning. As women, we tend to get lost in the idea in it being “the bride’s day”, when in actual fact, it is just as much your future husband’s day as well.
Love your fiance enough to value his opinion throughout the planning process. And do not fight over centre pieces, or if you should have roses or lillies… :)
What was your most memorable moment of the day?
The night before our wedding, Brett sent me the following message: “Sweetest dreams my Princess, I’ll see you tomorrow, at the end of the aisle of petals.”
That very sentence just captures the very essence of our relationship. He makes every day feel surreal, as though I just walked out of an fairytale/romantic novel.
Our day began with clouds and rain, and cleared to give way to spectacular, sunny skies. I did not experience any anxiety during the course of the day. I could not wait to meet my prince at the end of the aisle of petals.
Regardless of rain or sunshine, I had peace in knowing that the perfection of our day had always been written in the stars.
“Kiss me” by Ed Sheeran was our first dance song. The first time Brett kissed me made me forget my own name :) I just knew that I couldn’t ever live my life with anyone else after that moment.
How phenomenal does Sam look? And Brett too of course. Seriously though. Super cute couple, and absolutely lovely ‘forest themed’ wedding.
Please leave them some love…
