Today’s romantic, family farm wedding is an utterly gorgeous affair! Bridget & Wian chose a charming colour scheme of blush gold with heaps of elegant details.
Bridget was a particularly breathtaking bride in a figure hugging lace gown and simple veil – I adore the emotion of the day captured by their talented wedding photographers, Knot Just Pics.

Our wedding venue was the ’Iansfield’ Family Farm in the Natal Midlands (South Africa). We chose to have the wedding in my parents garden as it was very sentimental, and had a personal feel to it.
It was SO difficult to choose my dress. I loved so many different styles, and couldn’t believe I could only choose one. I left my dress to right to the very end, I only chose my material 1 month before the wedding.
I absolutely love lace, and wanted the whole dress to be lace. I also wanted to have a dress that was elegant and flattering. My favourite part of my dress was the sheer train and the detail on the lace.
I also wore a very plain and simple veil- I didn’t want it to take away from the dress.
Anne Hedley, from Petals Fine Flowers in Nottingham Road supplied our flowers. She is fantastic. We wanted to go for flowers that were in season and had that romantic feel to them to go with our romantic style of the wedding.
Growing up in a very close community, all my mum’s friends helped by picking foliage from their gardens and came to the farm the day before the wedding to help with the arrangements.
My mum was our ‘wedding planner’ she was amazing. Being based in London wasn’t always easy, we had a shared pinterest board to make sure we were always on the same page. Luckily, we had the same vision and were able to go through the whole process without a single argument.
Our flourist, Anne Hedley from Petals Fine Flowers, is a good friend of ours she a gave us a lot of guidance and direction when it came to the decor. We couldn’t have done it with out her.
We were married in the Michaelhouse Chapel (where Wian went to school), it was a very traditional setting and I walked down the aisle to Mendelssohn wedding march from a Midsummer Nights dream played on the organ.
My Dad walked me down the aisle, it was very emotional for us both.
Wian and I had been dating for 7 or 8 years before he proposed. He chose to propose on the farm I grew up on, he found a spot that had the most amazing view and set up a surprise picnic with champagne and roses.
It was so sentimental and he took me completely by surprise. He had designed and had the engagement ring made himself (which I absolutely love). Shortly after that we moved to London and couldn’t be happier.
Our photographers, Knot Just Pics were AMAZING. They made us both feel so relaxed and comfortable infront of the camera. We didn’t want any “cheesy” or “silly” pics and they were able to really capture our wedding beautifully.
We had few golden Cows in the tables which guests could take home. Growing up on a dairy farm it was a little touch of my background:)
We had a blush gold theme with a romantic feel. The flowers were a big feature. We also a few indigenous trees inside the marquee.
I didn’t have a set idea to start with. I feel as though through the process of planning everything took shape and came together as it was meant to be.I was a very relaxed bride:)
Our wedding cake was made by our caterers, Food Matters. It was 3 tier red velvet and carrot cake. Again, we kept it simple and decorated it with a few flowers.
What was your most memorable moment of the day / evening?
I really cannot choose! WE both loved every single minute of the whole day. We were told by friends to take a moment every few hours to just be together and take it all in, I am so glad we did.
If you could impart any words of wisdom to a future brides planning their wedding day, what would they be?
Enjoy every minute, it only happens once! On the night don’t rush anything!Every few hours try to find a quiet place where the two of you can step back and take it all in and feel the energy of everyone who has come together to celebrate your love.
We did our first dance to ‘Hold Back The River’ by James Bay. There wasn’t a particular reason for our choice, we both just loved. I was a bit anxious to dance in front of our guest (I am a terrible dancer) but every time I hear the song now I remember how magical our first dance was, we were just focused on each other.
