Green, Black, White & Gold: A Geometric Boho Styled Wedding Shoot

With a minimalistic yet striking colour palette of green, white, black and gold – this geometric inspired wedding inspiration shoot will give you oodles and oodles of ideas to use in your modern, bohemian styled big day.

GWENDA

Cristina and I hit upon the concept of this shoot together – we both love Bohemian styles but were interested in giving the look a stripped back, fairly minimalist angle. The restricted colour palette was kept to green, gold, white, and black, with lots of texture and strong geometric forms for interest. I’ve had the pleasure of working at Elmley several times; the interior of the barn and the sweeping vistas of the nature reserve are absolute perfection, so I was thrilled when the venue’s owner, Georgina, agreed to host the shoot. I invited some of my favourite, like-minded wedding professionals to join us, so the result was both creative and cohesive.

Across all of the floral arrangements I used heaps of mixed foliage, with soft yet sculptural astilbe, some epic black and white protea, and just a few perfect succulents. Trestle tables are my favourites, but they are notoriously difficult to decorate as many are quite narrow. A delicate runner of moss along the full length is a good solution (easy to squash if sharing platters are to be served!), with the odd statement protea and potted succulent. Fairy lights, tea lights and taper candles (all LED for safety), add some twinkly highlights at various heights.

I’ve recently launched a range of eco-friendly wedding favours, and featured here are the calendula petal and wildflower seed bags, complete with gilded fern leaf motif.

JESSY

The dresses featured were Rembo Styling’s ‘Suzanne’ (the long sleeved beauty with the incredible back), and ‘Luna’ (the very soft, whimsical and romantic tulle skirt dress); and from Eliza Jane Howell, ‘Polaris’ (the most heavily beaded dress), and ‘Lucille’ (the softer beaded dress).

Shoes were by Rachel Simpson and accessories by Miranda Templeton. I chose all of the above dresses for their sheer beauty, simplicity and because they all seemed so fitting with the incredible venue.

MEL

I tend not to plan the makeup in advance of a collaborative shoot unless there is a very strong theme or colour palette. This shoot was just so soft and organic that I just waited until I saw the models and saw what other contributors had done before choosing the makeup looks.

Both models were gorgeous but quite different from each other, so I decided to go with the rose gold/copper accents, used in some of the table decorations and reflected in the rustic naked cake, for Laura, the blonde model and for Jade, I wanted to do a soft, smoky and unconstructed eye makeup to complement the rest of the colours in the scheme.

Some of my favourite eyeshadow palettes are from a brand called Viseart because their pigments are strong enough to show up well on camera even if the style of photography is very soft and light (as Cristina Rossi’s often is), and they blend so well and are quick to apply which is essential for shooting on location.

Working with a team that I know helps me decide how I’ll approach the makeup because I know everyone’s style, and creating a look alongside Louise, the hairstylist with whom I work with frequently, was a natural process.

LOU

For the invite, we layered geometric hexagons to create a background and then added gold foil. The belly band is in gold foil with a custom designed logo to tie the design together. Then the design carried over to coordinating address labels.

I tried to keep the simplicity and clean lines so the gold foil geometric shapes really catch the eye.

For the cake, I created a minimalistic, high-tiered semi-naked cake decorated with foliage and geometric diamond shaped gold toppers in tune with the theme of the shoot.
