Goooood morning, good morning!! I hope you’ve had a fabulous weekend and you’re not suffering too much from Mondaymorningitis?!

I have a little something that’s that extra bit special to share with you today… so special that little involuntary squeeks keep escaping my lips every time I look at the beautiful images. I adore this shoot and think vintage style mistress Zoe Lem and cult perspex jewellery designers Tatty Devine have done a marvellous job showing off this colourful and alternative bridal jewellery to pure perfection.

Frieda Kahlo was a famous Mexican artist, at 22 she married the famous Mexican muralist Diego Rivera, 20 years her senior.

Their stormy, passionate relationship survived infidelities, the pressures of careers, divorce, remarriage, Frida’s bi-sexual affairs, her poor health and her inability to have children.

Frida once said: “I suffered two grave accidents in my life… One in which a streetcar knocked me down and the other was Diego.” The streetcar accident left her crippled physically and Rivera crippled her emotionally.

A few words from Rosie, one of the talents behind cult brand Tatty Devine:

I met Zoe when she was running My Sugarland in Angel. I recently bumped into her and we started chatting about her new venture which is an alternative wedding fair selling her wedding dresses made from old patterns.

Zoe’s a stylist and really good at explaining to people what style dress would suit their shape (she was Trinny and Susanna’s stylist!)

Here at Tatty we’ve been trying to work out what kind of Bride would wear Tatty on their wedding day, so Zoe and I decided we would do a shoot to show Tatty off at it’s bridal best.

Wow! just wow! Thanks so much for sharing I really believe this kind of shoot is what WTW is about. Beautiful, quirky and totally individual ~ I love it and hope you do too.

  1. I love this shoot, absoluteoly gorgeous photos! : )

  2. This is by far one of my favourite ever bridal shoots. Its wonderful to see the colours and contrast displayed in this set of pics. The accessories are just stunning and really wonderful make up too!

  3. Thanks for posting these pictures Sonia. It was a real shoot of passion from my side I wanted to bring together a team that could really bring to life the essence of Frida. Following my honeymoon in Mexico travelling around and becoming slowly obsessed with Frida Khalo it became a real inspireation point. I love the colours and find her passion and drive inspirartional we visited her house whilst in Mexico city and the whole shoot for me was a way of giving bridal a Frida twist. The collaboration with tatty worked perfectly in freeing Frida’s spirit with modern meets vintage twist. I will be shooting every couple of months bringing new teams together, the next one is Alice in Wonderland so what this space…..
