Super fab post up on the blog for you today! Ever wondered what tricks those make-up artists have up their sleeves? Well here at WTW we are in the know…
Professional make-up artist and wedding day specialist Frances Moore shares her…
Top 5 wedding makeup tips (the pros don’t want you to know!)
1. The Ghost Effect
Try to avoid wearing any SPF in any sort of product for this day only, especially on your face and neck – as SPF naturally contains reflective pigments (normally used to bounce UVB rays off of the skins surface) that can cause a nasty flash back on your photographs – making you look ghost like!
My Photographer friends have said that they’ve seen this happen a couple of times before, and it’s a nightmare to correct.
2. Tantrums & Tears
Waterproof mascara is a definite obvious must for this emotional day, but you also need to ensure your beautifully defined eyes are also protected with waterproof eyeliner – and, if using false eyelashes that the glue you use is also waterproof!
No one wants to see they’ve gained another eyebrow with a stray eyelash…
3. Streaky Bacon
Make sure you get the correct colour match foundation for your complexion, even if this means buying two shades – one for lighter areas and one for the more darker parts of your face and neck.
Foundation should feel light and fresh, and just slightly blur but not erase your problem areas – and should not evidently change as soon as it hits your jaw line – we’ve all seen it sometime!
4. Friend’s with makeup benefits… maybe
Having a friend who is great with makeup can be a blessing most of the time, but maybe not on your wedding day. Having your friend make you up & not being happy with the results can get ugly when it comes to telling them.
Stick with hiring a professional who’s feelings won’t be offended when you want to change it!
5. Don’t be a stranger to concealer
Don’t let your wedding guests know how tired or stressed you have been planning this day, by using this little weapon! Concealer is so easy to blend and use, who’ll wander how you coped before – they’re simply amazing at evening out skin tone.
I use them for everything that needs a little more attention like a pimple, scars or blood veins.
