Beautiful British Brazilian TeePee Wedding on an Equestrian Farm!

You’ll love this ridiculously gorge and pretty wedding I’m sharing today. Liz and Humberto planned their English country teepee wedding held on an equestrian farm, from abroad – so Liz needed lots of help from her maids!

Liz wore a beautiful, backless Suzanne Neville gown to wed her Brazilian beau Humberto and they opted for a traditional and romantic colour scheme of sage green and dusky rose.

I’m sure you’ll agree that there are so many steal-worthy details…

Beautiful British Brazilian TeePee Wedding on an Equestrian Farm!

When we first got engaged we had the dilema of which country to get married in, we live in São Paulo, and between the two of us we are Brazilian, Irish, English, Italian, Japanese and Kenyan and with half our family in Brazil and half in the UK we weren’t sure which way to go.

In the end we decided to have a vintage feel English country wedding incorporating Brazilian traditions. We got engaged in December 2013 and married on the 30th August 2014.

We planned the wedding from Brazil and I was able to spend the month of August in London to prepare the finishing touches.

A lot of elements such as music, make-up and flowers were done by friends and calling in favours making everything so much easier.

Our families were so supportive with our relatively short time to plan a wedding overseas, and I had the most amazing bridesmaids, who could quite easily rule the world, with their diplomacy, problem solving and general organisation!

I bought my Suzanne Neville dress 3 months before the wedding, nothing else had felt quite right for our style of wedding until I saw this one, I had it made with a slightly different neckline to the original design and Suzanne was really open to making a small change to her design which made it perfect for me.

My earrings were handmade by my lovely friend Genia Marek, making them all the more special! The bridesmaids wore pale green chiffon Dessy dresses. I decided to let each bridesmaid choose the cut of her dress so that she would feel comfortable.

The Ceremony was held at St. Mary and All The Saints Parish Church in Amersham Buckinghamshire, The church is a stunning building dating back to the 14th Century.

The bridal party got ready across the road at the historic Crown Inn, Amersham (I think Cromwell hid in a wall there or something) and walked through the village over to the church.

Rather than opt for full translation into Portuguese we decided to print the order of service in both English and Portuguese and to have readings and prayers in both languages.

In Brazil, the groom would normally walk down the aisle with his mother and would not be already waiting at the church when guests arrived, also the wedding would take place at night and the dress code would be more gala than floral, so the Portuguese invitations ended up being twice the length of the English ones as they had to include a dress code and information about English weddings.

The reception took place at Shardeloes Farm Equestrian Centre a few minutes from the church. We had a PapaKata teepee with dramatic smokeless fires and a sheepskin draped chill out area.

We wanted our wedding to be kid friendly so we put on pony rides, my artist sister-in-law made beautiful activity books and we hired childcare, but in the end the children we happiest chasing each other through the fields like something out of the sound of music!

All the wedding stationery including the place settings and menus (again in portuguese and english) was done by Lucy Ledger and combined beautifully with the stunning flowers courtesy of my Bridesmaid Charlotte Marcus.

We decided to go for mismatched vases on the tables to give a real country feel and test tubes with single flowers hung throughout the teepee for a magical atmosphere. Each place setting was set with a hand tied bunch of lavender, tied by the bridesmaids the day before.

The drinks reception was accompanied by Brazilian fusion canapés such as Brie and Cranberry Tapioca pancakes, Gazpacho shot with Cachaça and mini kibe with spicy dip.

During the reception there was a lively string quartet performance which included the musicians weaving between the guests in a choreographed routine.

The after dinner entertainment was a Bossa Nova band, and our first dance was to Elis Regina and Tom Jobin’s Só Tinha de Ser Com Você. At most Brazilian Weddings, the bride orders personalised Havainana flip-flops to ensure that the female guests can handle all night on the dance floor, this little touch went especially well with our non-brazilian guests!

We also had a Caiparinha bar, with three special signature caiparinhas, a cucumber flavoured English Gent, a spicy tangerine A Pimentada and a ginger led Gingeronimo! Guests could of course choose any other fruit with a base of traditional Cachaça, Vodka or Saquê (very popular especially in São Paulo and a nod to the Japanese side of the family).

The bossa nova band gave way to the DJ and a lot of 90s hiphop and rnb and even some Brazilian bailie funk!

The party finally ended at 3am and the guests were given Bem-Casados a traditional wedding favour, which consists of two mini sponge cakes sealed together with a filling of dolce de leite caramel as a symbol of the couple’s union.

No Brazilian wedding would be complete without them!
