DIY Flower Girl Crown: Wedding DIY & Tutorial
Before the bride walks down the aisle, she is traditionally preceded by a pint-sized attendant – this lucky flower girl is often seen sprinkling rose petals, flowers or even blowing bubbles in anticipation of the bride’s entrance. A flower girl’s presence always brings feelings of happiness and joy to a wedding ceremony.
If you’re planning your wedding to include a special little girl, imagine how thrilled she’ll be when you present her with her very own floral crown! They are the perfect accessory for every hairstyle and hair type and can be designed to complement your own style. Most little girls dream of becoming a princess, and on your special day, she will truly feel like one.
Floral crowns are surprisingly easy to make and require minimal tools and just a handful of time. You can have your flower girl wear a crown that is big, bold and colorful with flowers such as peonies, roses and callas.
If you prefer a sweet and simple look you can create a subtle crown using delphinium (that’s what we did!) or lavender. Whichever style you choose, your flower girl will be thrilled to wear one of these cute creations!
Materials:
Floral Wire
Wire cutter
Floral tape
Flowers
String
Directions:
Step 1:
Using a piece of string, measure your flower girl’s head. Cut a piece of floral wire 2 inches longer than the length of yarn. Connect the ends of your wire and bind them together with floral tape.
Step 2:
Trim the stems of your flowers to one and a half to two inches.
Step 3:
Working in groups of three, tape the base of the flowers together with a two inch length of floral tape.
Step 4:
Tape the taped group of flowers to the floral wire using floral tape. Lay the blooms over the previously wrapped stem for a full crown. Continue around the length of wire.
Step 5:
Lock the two loops together and bind with floral wire.
Step 6:
Tie a ribbon around the joined ends. Mist with water to keep fresh.
