This beautiful Seville outdoor, boho style wedding was a 3 day long affair!
Surrounded by pretty bougainvillea Cotton Candy Weddings captured the magic of Charlotte & Paul’s sunny destination wedding… We’re just loving the accents of mint, pretty boho styling and oh-so-many candles.

As we were getting married abroad, I wanted a relaxed informal dress that would suit the warm weather and our laid back theme – this dress was the second one I tried on and I loved the simplicity with the lace detail. I could picture myself walking down the aisle in this and knew it was the one, a moment I had always imagined. Despite normally being very indecisive, I looked no further and bought it that day!
I didn’t wear a veil, mostly due to the highlight of the dress being the exposed lace across my back.
We had always wanted to get married abroad and a friend was telling us about Seville. We came out to visit for a weekend and fell in love with the city! We lined up a few venues to view, the third being Cortijo el Esparragal. As soon as we arrived I could picture our whole wedding day in front of my eyes – we knew it was the place for us and we booked it there and then!
Our wedding was a 3 day party! The first night we hired a bar by the riverside in Seville. Paul and I, along with 50 of our family and bridal party, then decamped to the Cortijo where we all stayed for the weekend. The night before the wedding was spent enjoying a BBQ at the venue. All other guests came across from Seville for the evening. The wedding was the following day.
The Cortijo is only is 15 minutes from the centre of Seville, something that was important to us so guests not staying at the venue could stay there, allowing them to explore and enjoy everything Seville offers.
José, the manager of the Cortijo, was amazing from start to finish. He spoke perfect English and kept in touch with us via email on a weekly basis. We were sad to say goodbye to him when we left!
Paul got his suit from Reiss – he wanted a trouser/waistcoat combination and loved the one he found here.
Paul wore a mint green knitted tie, also from Reiss. This colour matched the Bridesmaids dresses and helped to set him apart from his identical twin brother who was best man!!
I walked down the aisle to ‘The Theory of Everything’ by Johann Johannsson, played by the String Quartet. My Dad gave me away, a very special moment I will never forget.
Our photographer was Gemma from Cotton Candy photography.
Paul knew Gem from many years ago and knew a little about Cotton Candy Photography. Once we looked into this more we were so excited and booked her!
She totally understood the vibe of the wedding, the location and the photos we wanted. We absolutely love each and every one of our photos, and can’t believe how she managed to capture so much and so many special moments!
Our wedding planner Lucy styled the venue for us – our brief to her was ‘as many candles and fairy lights as possible’ – she definitely accomplished this!! She surrounded these with various unique bohemian style decor, many bits made by herself and some she had personalised just for us. We absolutely loved the final result.
We had always talked about and pictured a fun, relaxed, bohemian style wedding. Particularly with an outdoor ceremony in the warmth surrounded by flowers, candles and everyone we love. We feel blessed that our vision came to life and our wedding was everything we had always dreamed of.
Paul and I met in 2009 in a pub in Leeds where I was studying, and Paul was visiting friends. We had a long distance relationship between Leeds and Portsmouth (where Paul lives) for over three years then I moved down so we could finally be together properly.
We got engaged in 2014 when Paul arranged a surprise trip to Copenhagen – we spent an excited few months enjoying our new engagement before starting to plan our Sevillan wedding!
What was your most memorable moment of the day / evening?
The most memorable part of the whole weekend for us both was having all our family and friends together in such a beautiful and unique setting. It really was the best weekend of our lives.
If you could impart any words of wisdom to future brides planning their wedding day, what would they be?
Stay calm and relaxed and enjoy the planning! This is your one special day so make sure you do it exactly how you and your partner wish, lots of people will have ideas and opinions but at the end of the day it is your wedding and a day you will remember for the rest of your life.
Loving this beautiful candlelit outdoor wedding. Destination wedding perfection!
