Romantic ‘Edge of the World’ Elopement on Fogo Island: Capen and Will

Capen & Will romantically eloped in one of the four corners of the world – Fogo Island – Newfoundland! Our gorgeous bride looked so fresh and pretty with just a glimpse of her growing baby bump. She chose to wear an elegant, pale pink, bhldn wedding gown, snuggly warm winter coat and cute snow boots.

We chose to get married on Fogo Island in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. We really wanted to marry in a special place, and what is any more unique and special than an island on the edge of the earth? We also wanted to get married in a winter wonderland.

I chose my particular dress from BHLDN because I wanted something beautiful and pale pink. I also needed something flowy that would accommodate my growing baby bump!

Since we are having a big wedding with family and friends in October, I wanted to keep this dress fun and simple. I did not want a traditional wedding dress.

Fogo Island is so small that they did not have a florist. I mentioned to one of the staff members that I was looking for some simple white flowers and they had someone from the Inn take a trip off the island to get them for me!

I want to mention that the people at the Fogo Island Inn were so incredibly sweet and went above and beyond to make our day special and memorable. I love the way the simple white flowers added to my outfit.

I am from the U.S. and Will is an Aussie. We met on a rooftop in Sydney, Australia. I was visiting Australia for two weeks and staying in the same apartment building that Will was living in with two buddies.

I went up to the roof to read one day towards the end of my trip while he was playing tennis. I made a funny comment at the short workout shorts he and his buddies were sporting and then he later came over and introduced himself.

We went out for drinks later that night and then spent almost a year communicating on facebook and the internet when I went back to the U.S until I eventually moved to Sydney! We started dating as soon as I moved over and have been inseparable since.

We moved to New York together 2 ½ years ago, got engaged this summer, married in January and are expecting a baby girl in April 2017. We are so excited about the future ahead of us and could not imagine life without each other!

The most memorable part of the day was during the ceremony when we both got to read each other letters about why we love one another.

Heather our wedding photographer was incredible! She is so sweet and made us feel so comfortable and at ease being in front of the camera. She took the most beautiful photos and we are so excited to have such a stunning collection of photos from our special day!

I really appreciated how simple and easy our wedding was. Since we eloped and were in such a beautiful place with people so willing to help make our day special, we did not feel any stress surrounding the wedding.

The day was so relaxed and romantic that we were able to really focus on one another. There is something amazing about keeping your wedding simple and adventurous!

What a stunning elopement in such an unreal place! Congratulations Capen & Will.
