This week’s wedding inspiration gets a little moodier with the darker blue-grey shades of Pewter and Gold. Pastel shades are oh so pretty, but if you want something less wistful and more poetic, shades of blue-grey could really hit the spot. Add to that, subtle hints of metallic gold, and you have an incredibly stylish palette for any Summer wedding.
As always, each week I try and pull inspiration from a variety of sources. This week, the extreme humidity has been broken numerous times with dramatic thunderstorms across the country. Blues skies would transform into darker more ominous blue-grey clouds, with inky washes sweeping across the landscape. The contrast of these cooler shades and tones, with the warmer more bleached colours of the sunshine, is so refreshing. Using this palette on a warm Summer’s day would be a super stylish way to set your wedding day against the sunshine.
I always love a bridal shoe in colour, so imagine a pair of grey-blue bridal shoes under that white dress. How about gold wax stamps on your pewter paper stationery, or a creased and flowing grey muslin on your tablescapes, with an array of gold candlesticks? Take a break from the blush tones and pastels that we all love so much, and try something a little bolder.
