Fairytale Hues of Blue & Pink for an Elegant Winter-Themed Wedding Shoot

Fairytale Hues of Blue & Pink for an Elegant Winter-Themed Wedding Shoot

Initially, we intended on having more of a winter wedding theme as the shoot was to take place in February. We wanted it to feel warm while avoiding the traditional Christmas wedding decor. Softer blues and pinks were chosen so as to not dominate the frame and locations to use within the venue were selected based on what would best showcase all of the building’s features.

We knew that we wanted to put together some sort of shoot at Ellsworth Block the moment we stepped into the space for the first time. The stone walls and original woodwork scream old-school class and romantic sophistication and the natural light from the huge windows overlooking Wisconsin’s State Capitol lit up the space wonderfully.

The result was a shoot filled with details that melted together into the venue and could have taken place during any season. Each of the participating vendors nailed their part and we couldn’t have been happier with how it all came together.

Stationery (words provided by Shi from Lettered by Shi)

This beautiful shoot was as much fun creating as getting to participate in. I wanted the details to give an elegant touch playing on texture and shape. It was eclectic in that vintage met modern and they paired seamlessly with all the other moving pieces of the day. This entire shoot was simply stunning and captured perfectly.

Florals (words provided by Lisa from Sunborn Gardens)

I love winter weddings. There is something so romantic about the snowy season, but it doesn’t mean you have to use those traditional holiday colours. These soft tones mixed with evergreen create a more natural look suited for an elegant wedding. The florals focus on local and domestically grown varieties and it’s always amazing what is still available during the cold months. Beautiful roses, delphinium, fragrant stock flower, Camellia, and Ivy. Ellsworth Block has this lovely mix of old and new, blending the historic touches with modern finishes. The classic soft colours and princess-style dress nod to the traditional while the pink suit coat and creative coloured hair touch on the funky style of downtown.

Venue (words provided by Hannah from Ellsworth Block)

With the historically renovated event space in the heart of downtown Madison, Ellsworth Block provides the backdrop to any fairytale wedding. We love to collaborate with doers, makers, and creators in the wedding industry to create each couple’s dream. Our intimate gathering space creates time and space for any moment in a couple’s life.

Décor and Furniture (words provided by Constanza from Velvet Rentals)

For this styled shoot, Velvet Rentals provided tableware, dining chairs, decor, cake display, and lounge pieces. We curated and combined items that reminded us of classic romance and antique french furniture with a modern twist. The gold-framed settee, tufted blue velvet bench, ornate gold candle holders, and antique glassware are Louis XIV-inspired. We contrasted those pieces with sleek white plates and a modern bar cart on which we placed antique vanity mirrors to circle back to those classic period pieces.

Rings (words provided by Aubree from Soha Diamond Co.)

The Engagement Ring is a multi-band solitaire accented with pave diamonds. The men’s band was a 4mm comfort fit stepped edge band.  Both rings were white gold.

Model (words provided by Ali)

This dreamy-styled shoot would not have happened without a dream team! It was easy to play the part of the princess in this fresh, elegant, fairytale shoot. All the details came so beautifully together when everyone contributed their magic touch.

I love styled shoots because it’s incredible to see a group of creative professionals come together under loose conditions and a common goal to create something cohesive and gorgeous! Are you planning a winter wedding? Let us know in the comments below.
