Marquee Wedding
With Scott born in Bournemouth and myself spending much of my childhood on the beaches in Jersey which is where my Mum is from, we were certain that we wanted somewhere close to the sea. We also wanted a marquee wedding that we could really make our own & party the night away. Smedmore was the perfect wedding location; the most beautiful grounds for the ceremony & reception, a house big enough to sleep the entire wedding party and we had our sea view at the bottom of our wedding aisle.

Memorable Moments
I can’t really pinpoint an exact moment that was the most memorable. I just remember feeling overwhelmed with gratitude for having everyone we love to come together to celebrate life and love after what had been a difficult year of loss. I suppose a highlight was the most beautiful sunset filling the marquee with golden rays, watching everyone gather around the fire pit with a cocktail in hand – the golden hour of dreams.
Wedding Photographer
I found our wedding photographer, Tom Wyatt on Instagram and instantly fell in love with his work. I wanted something natural and relaxed rather than overly staged and stark. His warm tones and ability to capture the little moments were what drew me to him, and I couldn’t have been happier with the photos from our day. He made us feel so comfortable and at ease from the get-go. I didn’t realise he was there half the time yet he was able to capture every little last detail.
Wedding Decor
For wedding decor, I wanted lots of neutrals to keep in with the clean, classic and fresh feel I was going for. My sister (an illustrator) brought my ideas and designs to life on the menus and table plan, and I used the same stationery I had used in our invites with a subtle gold embossment of our initials on the name tags. I sourced everything myself, from Facebook marketplace, Ikea, eBay, Amazon, Charity shops & more! My mum had kept lots of bits from my sister’s weddings. We had my favourite scented candles “St Al. by Boy Smells” burning in every corner of the marquee, which one of my best friends who works in beauty was able to source last minute for me – a detail I’m so pleased we went ahead with as every time I light one now everything comes flooding back.
Wedding Flowers
I wanted clean, fresh and seasonal flowers – I was introduced to Becky through a friend who had recently started her own Florist business. I loved the idea of supporting a local, small business and Becky did a fantastic job of listening to all my ideas and bringing them to life. She included green milk thistle in all the bouquets and button holes as a nod to Scott’s late Dad who was Scottish.
Scott made the archway at the bottom of the isle himself, which was then decorated with simple gyps and greenery – we didn’t want anything too fussy to take away from the stunning backdrop which was the sea view!
Words of Wisdom
Prepare for carnage in the lead-up to the day, but from the moment you wake… relax! There is nothing more you can do other than look on and watch your day unfold. There will be mistakes but they will go unnoticed by all. Try and soak up every last detail – the noises faces, smells, conversations – it really is over before you know it.
This is not your average marquee wedding right?! I’m totally inspired by the fresh, modern and clean aesthetic of this gorgeous classic wedding. How about you?
