Wedding Venue: Introducing The Tartan Fox

Nestled in the heart of the Cornish countryside, The Tartan Fox is a grade II listed hideaway, once known as Carvynick House. Nearly 400 years ago, two neighbours fell in love, and decided to join their houses together, creating the stunning property we know today. The year of their dedication, 1669, sits proudly above The Tartan Fox’s front door, welcoming everyone inside. Today the team continues to honour that tradition, celebrating love and life through shared experiences with food. They want everyone who walks through the doors to remember their experience forever, so they have made sure that their wedding offering is bespoke to each couple – and always nothing short of exceptional.

The venue is of course a go-to for its excellent food and drink offering from Michelin-starred Chef Adam Handling MBE, but for couples also wanting speedy efficiency with their wedding planning, The Tartan Fox is a great choice due to its extraordinary turnaround capability. The team fully renovated the entire 400-year-old Grade II listed building and moved in within just weeks last year, and they are now bringing that same efficiency and creativity to every wedding they host. Whether couples want an intimate gathering or a large, lavish celebration, the team is the best in the business for seamless, swift planning without compromising on quality or atmosphere.

Alongside the venue’s stunning renovation, complete with a luxury tipi, magical barn, and garden space, The Tartan Fox team has built strong relationships with an impressive roster of well-known and local musicians and photographers – making it a one-stop destination for couples who want a beautiful countryside wedding.

The spaces

For smaller ceremonies, the pub’s antique Barn is a wonderfully rustic hideaway, perfect for weddings of up to 26 guests. With its warm textures and understated charm, it works as a true blank canvas – ideal for creative couples who want to style their day entirely their own way. Barn hire starts from £1,000 in low season and £2,000 in high season, making it a beautiful and flexible option for intimate celebrations.

If planning something a little bigger, The Garden provides a breathtaking setting beneath a two-hat luxury tipi. Spacious, secluded and full of atmosphere, it’s designed for larger parties of up to 120 guests and creates a magical backdrop from day to night. Garden hire is available from £2,000 in low season and £4,000 in high season.

On golden days, The Courtyard becomes a truly glorious place to say ‘I Do’. Surrounded by the character of The Tartan Fox, it can host up to 100 guests and offers an unforgettable open-air ceremony setting.

Couples who want the ultimate experience can choose exclusive use of The Tartan Fox, allowing them to make the entire venue their own. Inside the pub itself, architectural features like stone floors and exposed beams are complemented by granite-framed fireplaces, with dried florals and candlelight bringing softness and warmth. Exclusive use is available from £8,500 during high season (May-September), £6,000 in mid-season (October, March and April), and £4,000 in low season (November-February, excluding Christmas).

To enhance the experience further, Chef Adam Handling MBE himself is delighted to cook at The Tartan Fox weddings, subject to availability, bringing his signature creativity and exceptional food to the special day.

The Food

For post-ceremony celebrations, guests are invited to indulge in a selection of The Tartan Fox’s signature snacks, designed to be shared, savoured and talked about.  A minimum of three varieties are recommended to create a generous and exciting spread that keeps the celebrations flowing.

Guests can expect a varied mix of hot and cold options, with premium add-ons available for those wanting something extra special. Snacks are priced from £3 each, with select luxury items available at an additional cost.

The wedding menus are designed to be as memorable as the day itself, putting food firmly in the spotlight for the happy couple and their guests. Starters focus on fresh, vibrant Cornish flavours alongside indulgent favourites, carefully created to set the tone for an exceptional dining experience.

For mains, guests can enjoy beautifully executed classics and seasonal favourites, with a balance of meat, fish and vegetarian options. Desserts are equally show-stopping, ranging from rich, nostalgic crowd-pleasers to lighter, more refreshing finishes, with cheese available to round off the meal. The three-course menu, including tea and coffee, is £85 per person. All menus are seasonal and fully bespoke, with children’s options available on request – ensuring every guest leaves remembering not just the wedding, but the food too.

They also offer a feasting menu, perfect for a family-style sharing experience for all guests, where they can tuck into a range of snacks, fire-cooked meats and sharing sides locally sourced from around Cornwall, and finish with delicious desserts such as their well-loved ‘deep-fried Mars bar, frozen honeycomb’.

To add a bit of extra fuel for dancing near the end of the evening, a range of additional options can be added, from hearty late-night food to lighter sharing boards and even Cornish Pasties!

When love can’t wait, The Tartan Fox team excels at planning exceptional weddings seamlessly and swiftly. Every wedding is different, and every celebration is designed to feel effortlessly personal and luxurious.
