Pete and I are Christians, while we didn’t want a ‘traditional’ Christian wedding our faith was a central part of how we decided to celebrate. We married at Burton Latimer Hall – We’ve been friends with the family there since I was two. I loved the thought of a sentimental venue, where we had control and flexibility over everything!

A significant value for us in planning the wedding was that everyone could feel involved – members of the family made some of the food, our friends took turns running the bar, the wedding service was done by our friend Andy, and the wedding preach was done by our friend Dan. It was a ‘family serving’ family vibe.
The most memorable bit for me as the bride was getting ready in the house and hearing the worship band (a group of our friends) practising in the garden for the service, the sentimentality of it all hit me; the pride I take in all my friends and how talented they are, the excitement to share and celebrate with people, and how our value system was at the forefront of the whole day.
Our wedding colour scheme was orange, green and white. As the whole wedding was outside – the greenery and florals were just meant to be a continuation of the natural feel of the venue.
If we could offer any words of wisdom we would say. Think outside the box. I worked at a wedding venue and observed that lots of the things you THINK matter people don’t notice. Choose which things matter to you and focus on those.
