A Magenta Eden
A group of industry suppliers came together to illustrate to couples that you can weave colour into your celebrations. With a special focus on the Pantone Colour of the year, Magenta.
The group, brought together by luxury wedding planners Naureen Khan (https://naureenkhanevents.com/) and Emma Murray-Jones (https://www.emjweddings.com/), alongside photographer Lina Orsino-Allen (https://www.instagram.com/linaandtom/), wanted to demonstrate to couples that in an industry very focused on pastels and whites, that it possible to be bold and to bring colour to your celebrations & memories.
The Finer Details…
Traditionally European weddings have long been connected with the colour white…but why in a world where life has become bolder, has this not changed?
We wanted to take inspiration from Asian weddings that have always embraced colour.
What is Pantone?
Every year there is a dedicated Pantone colour of the year, but what we wanted to demonstrate was how could this colour translate into reality for our couples. How can you base all of our décor around the colour of the year? How can you translate this into something bold?
The Pantone colour does weave its way down into our everyday life, appearing in designer and high street fashion, but the question in our mind was how to recreate an elegant but bold styled shoot based around this year’s colour, Viva Magenta.
With this question in mind, a group of the luxury wedding industry’s finest came together to produce this vibrant editorial shoot honouring the Pantone colour of the year – Viva Magenta.
Location, Location, Location
In a post-pandemic Life, many couples found themselves postponing destination weddings for intimate London gatherings – and choosing to have multiple & smaller celebrations over the larger weddings that were so typical previously.
Whilst many London venues, including host venue The Langham (https://www.langhamhotels.com/), hold weddings in their infamous luxury ballrooms, the grand majority of hotels & venues do have more intimate rooms that often need a touch of love to transform them into the perfect location for your wedding day.
With the Viva Magenta in mind, our team set about creating a bold destination vibe in a more unusual space, the Conservatory, a rustic private dining room.
Just a little love…
When looking at any event and meeting space for such a special celebration, the key element to always think about is lighting. Lighting changes everything. With trusted uplighters, you can add warmth and depth to any event space and create a cosy atmosphere, which we were able to do thanks to Powerhouse (https://www.instagram.com/powerhouse_hire/).
No event space is perfect, but it’s how you look at it. Draping fabrics from Boomting Bunting (https://www.boomtingbunting.com/) helped to create texture & layers of colour in the room, adding colour and bringing the colour scheme together, creating the perfect backdrop for us to work with.
The Florals
Our team included star of Channel 4’s Billionaire Blooms, Floral Designer Paula Rooney (https://www.instagram.com/paularooneyfloraldesigner/), who set about to create a bold magenta garden of Eden, reminiscent of exotic gardens in faraway lands.
We are keen to shy away from the often-seen ‘hint’ of colour that shoots and instead go for all in bold colour.
And our Couple…
We bring colour, boldness and life to our wedding day shoot not only with the décor but also to one of the key and focal areas – the clothes.
In this lovely shoot, our bride wore a bespoke floral gown by Shimmering Ivory (https://www.shimmeringivory.co.uk/), with shoes by the creative Di Hassell (https://dianehassall.com/) & intricate accessories by Botias Accessories (https://botiasaccessories.co.uk/). Every bride needs to remember that looking fabulous on your feet and whilst getting ready is a key must on your special day.
The colour of our bride’s gown was so bold and so different it was really a joy to see something so unique in a world dominated by white.
Mirroring her boldness our groom is also in royal blue tones from Neal and Palmer (https://nealandpalmer.com/) enhancing and complementing the bride’s dress. As they look to spend their life together in symmetry, they match on their big day.
In reflection of their love and the garden blooms, the bride herself blooms with an incredible headdress made by Paula’s team.
A great tip for all brides is how to go that extra step and really bring your chosen colour scheme together.
We have the answer… Our fantastic hair and make-up artist Camilla Collins from CJC Hair and Makeup (https://www.cjchairandmakeup.com/) worked her magic on our lovely bride – ensuring her lip and eye shadow colour not only tied into the colour of the day but also of the florals.
The Details
Bringing colour to our tablescape was Maison Margaux (https://maisonmargauxltd.com/) with their elegant tableware. Using different textures across, the glassware, plates and delicate shell placemats, we could also bring in additional nods to a destination-wedding theme.
Complementing the hand-embroidered napkins, Ink and Paper (https://www.inkandpaperdesign.co.uk/), created stunning tassel menus. The perfect finishing touch was the shell place cards – adding that exotic seaside feel.
Adding a variety of textures for your guests to touch and experience keeps their senses engaged and adds to their sensory experience.
Something Sweet..
No wedding day is complete without cake. Erzuli Cakes (https://erzuliecakes.com/) brought Viva Magenta to life with her glorious 6-tier cake. For any intimate celebration, making a statement with the cake is not only wonderful to eat, but also adds to the styling and dressing of your event space.
Nina from Erzuli Cakes worked her magic creating the opulent dessert table, filled with macaroons and cupcakes. In life, you can simply never have enough cake.
