Rock The Frock: 50s Wedding Dress Inspiration | Bridal Fashion

It seems like here at WTW, I simply cannot get enough of the white stuff. Yes, snooooow… {the beautiful and ethereal winter wedding, the eco-conscious snowy up-cycled shoot and the animated snowy love shoot} and now I have even more inspiration in the form of this fabulous snowy Rock The Frock shoot that’s showcasing Oh My Honey‘s alternative, fun and flirty 50s style wedding dresses.

If you want to rock the 50s look on your big day and you’re looking for an ultra fun and flattering bridal shape {who isn’t?}, you’ll LOVE these creations! Gloriously feminine & glamorous, the nipped in waist and  full bodied flare of the skirt will make every bride look über awesome! Over to Louise now from Oh My Honey who shares the inspiration behind her snowy Rock The Frock shoot.

I could not miss the snow opportunity with my dresses, and worked with a photographer that was able to get out to my Farm house on the south downs. We knew that the temperature would create a bit of a time limit, as there was only so long Laura, our model, would be able to play about in 6 inches of snow on the open downs! Luckily she is from Finland, so was very good with the cold, and didn’t complain once!

Because it was such a last minute opportunity, we wanted to make sure we got the shots whilst the snow covered every rolling hill in the distance, it meant that we couldn’t get together a bigger team with suppliers etc, but I think that these images are really beautiful, and capture a bride in a winter theme dramatically. I think they are great inspiration for a Rock The Frock style shoot.

We shot two wedding dresses from my new collection, and one of the ballgowns from my Brighton Fashion Week Collection.

I teamed the wedding dresses with deep red and dark navy petticoats, to make the dresses stand out against the winter colours, with bold red lipstick too. I chose the Rebekah dress, which has a feather trim and silver beading detail, because I thought it had a perfect winter edge to it, the delicate feathers against the soft snow, and the Kassia dress because the longer sleeves were perfect for an outdoor winter bride, and the satin looked great against the dark trees in the woods.

The big pink spotty dress is also 1950’s inspired, though more contemporary touches, with the other two dresses being ivory, I couldn’t resist bringing out a burst of colour too.

Aren’t these 50s wedding dresses just delish!? I adore the petticoats too, they really do make the dresses pop. Last year I featured Oh My Honey wedding dresses in my Neon Inspired Bridal Shoot. The bright pink petticoat looked absolutely awesome!
