Sebastian and I met in 9th grade during a class trip. Actually we knew each other since Kindergarten but we never got in touch. One year, after a class trip in which we got to know each other better, we noticed that there was more than friendship. Yes, we’ve been in a relationship since we were 16 years old :D Now, after 12 years we are getting married <3
Last year we took a roadtrip through Florida and Sebastian planned to propose during this vacation. So it happened in Key West. After a wonderful sunny day, we wanted to watch the sunset.
Sebastian wanted to go to the Fort Zachary State Park, but we couldn’t find the way and I was a little touchy because the time till sunset was getting closer and the worst part was: the sky was getting more and more cloudy.
As we found the State Park we sat in front of the ocean on some rocks. We made jokes about the stupid weather and smoked a Cuban cigar we bought in Key West during the day.
Sebastian was the sweetest guy and said a lot beautiful things to me. But I couldn’t believe what was going to happen in the next few minutes. He stood up to get on his knees in front of me…
My heart stopped as I saw the little box in his hand. I have to admit that I can’t remember all the lovely things he said, but I know that he asked THE question and I said yes.
And obviously I cried… But the most beautiful thing happened around us while we were busy with each other… A dramatic sunset between the clouds appeared – it was unbelievable!
We recently had our little intimate civil marriage on 15th of June. Only with our parents, the Maid of honor (my sister), best man and the bridesmaids :) The “big” ceremony with my Turkish family and Sebastian’s German family and our friends was on July, 23rd.
A really good friend of ours will do the wedding ceremony which is going to happen in a park. The reception and the party will be in a barn-like location. So it will be a multicultural wedding, but with no typical turkish or german traditions. We both want it very urban, an american-inspired-wedding.
I knew it was love when…
Sebastian…. during the time we started to get to know each other, I noticed that Afet is different from what I thought. We had a lot of things in common and we inspired each other. That was the time when I knew she was very unique for me.
Afet… I realised that he is always behind me and keeps his hands over me in every situation. We are a really good team and I know that we can reach all if we stick together. And it’s the way he looks at me… I feel so loved, even more after 12 years.
This is one of the prettiest couple shoots ever!! Gorgeous work Jill – and don’t Afet & Sebastian make the sweetest couple?! And don’t even get me started on Afet’s bridal look… the dress… that boho cover up, and the colours in her floral headpiece and bouquet… WOW!
