Spring Botanicals and Copper: Yurt Wedding Inspiration
When Castle Yurts approached me about putting together a styled shoot to showcase their structures, there could have been no better time of year to inspire us.
Spring at Kinnersley Castle on the Welsh borders is truly magical, and their tumbling swathes of daffodils and rustic gardens provided us with a fabulous backdrop. Using a seasonal theme with an architectural twist we mixed wild florals and foliage with structural copper and wood.
Katie from Wild Magnolia created dozens of little vases and arrangements as well as the button holes, bouquet and flower crown. She used a rich textural background of lush purple foliage, and fresh shooting twigs, to showcase occasional yellow and red blooms to great effect.
My focus, alongside the overall design and detailing, was the three-tier triangular pyramid chandelier I made from copper pipe (with a little help from a wonderful plumber).
It was important to draw attention to the structure, and use the height of the space to its full potential. We adorned it with Kokedama balls made from ferns and ivy, clear glass balls to reflect the light, and a fairy light canopy that reached out to the walls.
Talented Lindy designed and built an amazing cake reflecting our theme both in shape and the hand painted and cut fern inspired illustrations she decorated it with, not to mention the deliciously iced biscuits!
Carefully adding details like the Temperley dress, stationery, handcrafted jewellery and brilliant hair and makeup team made the overall experience thrilling.
I can’t thank everyone enough for all their hard work. Especially Marta and Artur from Marta May Photography who managed to capture our soft and ethereal mood exceptionally and kept an element of fun running throughout.
