A Seaside Wedding With Peonies
Tradition says if you get married “at home” it should be at the brides’. I was born and grew up in Madeira, and thus despite having met and living on the countries’ continent, we decided to get married at the island of eternal spring.
We married on a summer day, on Madeira Island, in the beautiful Church of St. Peter, illuminated by its centuries-old chandelier and endless smiles of the guests. It was the church from my childhood, full of such great memories.
The celebration was at the Nini Design Center, one of our favorite locations on the island, for its unique location, surrounded by the sea and with a stunning landscape over the bay of Funchal.

Wedding Planning
Since we had to plan the wedding from Lisbon, where we currently live, Andreia played such an important role, guiding us all the way. Apart from being one of my oldest and best friends, she is the most talented designer I know.
The Dress
My wedding dress was by Rosa Clara. I fell in love with it the minute I tried on. From the delicate hand sewn details and the flowy organza skirt, it was true perfection.
The Flowers
My florist Graça is such a special person with a heartwarming personality and perfectly understood what kind of flower decor was our personal taste.
She decorated the church, venue and also the wedding cake, with such a remarkable taste, full of greenery, peonies and white roses.
White peonies were chosen as the predominant flowers for my bouquet since they are my absolute favourite flowers.
Most Memorable Moment
Our wedding ceremony was such a special and heartwarming moment, full of tears of pure joy. I always keep in my mind the wise words from our dearest priest.
The Photography
Me and Ana have been friends since our childhood, and I have always followed and admired her work. From the first moment I got engaged, I knew she had to be my photographer. She was outstanding, capturing every emotion-filled moment that this wedding was made of.
The Decor
Manuel proposed to me in Bali, such a magical place, filled with the most gorgeous lanterns.
Since then, I have kept in my mind that I would like to have the venue full of small white lights hanging from the ceiling, linen chair covers and tables full of flowers and white candles.
Words of Wisdom
Appreciate every minute of your special day.
For me, marriage was always about celebrating our love with the most meaningful people in our lives, family and friends. It is a unique day in your life that will always keep your heart warm even in the darkest days. It’s truly a blessing to feel the rush of love that surrounds you during the wedding.
First Dance
My first dance was with my father. It was one of the moments that I would like to freeze in time. The song was “Can’t help falling in love” from Elvis Presley.
The second dance was with my husband. A memorable and unforgettable moment. It was a meaningful song for us, a version of “Stand by me” from Florence and the Machine.
