How To Create A Beautiful Dusty Blue Wedding

Blue is a divine colour to use as part of your wedding colour palette, but it’s often overlooked by other colours such as pink or purple. Dusty blue is a timeless shade that is oh-so elegant, and it’s the perfect ‘something blue’ for your special day. Let’s take a look at how you can create a dusty blue wedding in 5 simple steps…

The Bridal Outfit

Time to concentrate on one of the most important parts of any wedding day: the bride’s outfit. From accessories to shoes, there are a ton of ways you can incorporate a subtle dash of dusty blue into your bridal look. I really love the thought of a chic wedding dress with just the slightest hint of blue – it’s especially perfect if you’re having an ethereal beach wedding. If you’d rather don a traditional white wedding dress, consider opting for pretty blue pumps or some aquamarine earrings.

The Bridesmaids

Blue is a gorgeous colour for bridesmaids, and this particular shade is ultra flattering on most skin-tones. Mix and match short and long gowns amongst your bridesmaids for a look that is seriously ‘on trend’. Sparkly silver shoes and glittering jewellery will make your girls look dazzling!

The Wedding Cake

I think a muted, watercolour design is an absolute must-have for a dusty blue wedding cake. Whether it’s one tier or 5 tiers, mix blue with white icing for a show-stopper of a cake! An ombré or marble effect is a modern take on the traditional wedding cake style, and it’s guaranteed to look too good to eat…

The Wedding Stationery

While we’re on the subject of watercolour designs, let’s talk about your wedding stationery. Simple white and dusty blue stationery will look understated while giving your guests a subtle hint of what is to come. Calligraphy font goes hand in hand with this colour scheme, and it’ll make your invitations look truly stunning. Be sure to keep your designs the same throughout your wedding day so that your colour scheme ties in together.

The Table Decor

You can create some seriously magical reception tables with this beautiful shade. Grey and blue table runners will add a dash of colour to your tables – opt for plain if you want to keep things simple, but sequin runners are an alternative option for the glamorous bride and groom. Tall blue candles in silver mercury candle holders are always a wonderful addition to any table , and they’ll give a lovely warm glow in the evening. Silver cutlery and plates teamed with dusty blue napkins are guaranteed to look chic. Why not add some greenery and foliage to your tables too? The combination of blue, silver and green will look organic yet minimalist.

It’s so easy to create a dusty blue wedding theme and it’s one of the most elegant colour palettes out there. If you liked this post, you’ll love our Slate & Blue Inspiration Moodboard!
